Brasilia, March 18-23 :  Join us at the World Water Forum !

Published : Wednesday 07 March 2018

The World Water Forum, to be held on March 18 to 23, is a great opportunity “to promote awareness, build political commitment and trigger action on critical water issues at all levels […]”. It is also one of the very few international fora where the Mediterranean region is recognised as a relevant regional space.

Thus the preparatory process led by the IME and the Union for the Mediterranean has been crucial to voice the views, the know-how and the solutions of Mediterranean stakeholders especially as regards the priority themes.

As coordinators of the Urban Topic, the Economic Foresight Institute for the Mediterranean (IPEMED) and Medcities tried to benefit from this processus to underline the expertise of cities and economic operators in terms of Waste Water Reuse. REUSE was the main topic of the last UN Report on Water.

Drawing lessons from past experience, sharing information, overlooking the point of view of people working on the ground: these were the main goals of the Working Groups organised in Monaco, on July 2017, in Casablanca, on October 2017 and in Cairo, on January 2018. All the case studies have been included in a policy paper (to be published), thanks to the support of Euromed Cities Network, the International Office for Water (IOWater) and the Euro-Mediterranean Information System on Know-How in the Water Sector (EMWIS). Entitled “Reuse in the Mediterranean and its impact on territories“, this paper also includes the inputs of Med experts.

Therefore IPEMED and its partners will be very pleased to welcome you in Brasilia during some key-events:

  • March 20, 14:30 – 16:00(Arena 4) : Mediterranean Session on “Circular Economy: Reuse in the Mediterranean and its impact on territories“ ;
  • March 22, 9:00 -10:30 (Arena 2) : Interregional Session on “REUSE in the “Africa – Mediterranean – Europe” axis: Territorial Impact and Search for a Common Strategy“.
